Lyric Medley Tag

I am so late for this. Never mind. I’ve been kind of busy with school – I mean, it’s been great and I’m really happy to be going there, but I can’t exactly stalk the blogosphere like I used to … πŸ™‚Β Anyway, I was tagged by Heather at Sometimes I’m a Story, for this Lyric Medley Tag. In other words, this is soooo awesome. I’m up for anything to do with music. πŸ™‚

The rules:

Thank and link back to the person who tagged you.
Make a collage that represents your taste in music to go along with your tag post.

List a song for each of the 10 questions below (or make up your own!) and include your favorite lyrics from that song, if you’d like. If you want to explain why you chose that song, that’s cool too – go crazy with it!

Okay, so I’ll *try* not to choose all Anberlin songs …

***

A song that describes me perfectly – Modern Age by Anberlin. This song just speaks to me so much.

Don’t we all want to belong?
And don’t we all write our own song?
Let our silence break tonight.
Don’t we all know right from wrong?
And don’t we all want to be loved?
Let our silence break tonight.

And

Come now, elusive sigh
Open up their eyes to see
So many of us are just the same as you
Have we all hid? Have we all hid ourselves from friends?

The happiest song I know – Hello Hurricane by Switchfoot. It’s about an intrepid spirit.

Hello hurricane, you’re not enough
Hello hurricane, you can’t silence my love
I’ve got doors and windows boarded up
And all your dead end fury’s not enough
You can’t silence my love

A song about donuts – So In Love, by Jeremy Camp. Nah, I’m just kidding.

I am so in love with you (donuts)
There’s nothing else I choose
You’ve stolen my heart, yes,
I’m all for you now

A song that proves how I am loved Β – Lie To Me (Denial) by RED.

Lie to me
You can feel that this love was never real
Walk away
You can learn to love again

Lie to me
Watch me bleed
I’ll still be here when you see
You’re not alone
You don’t have to run again
Leave me in denial

A song of origin – City of Angels, by 30 Seconds to Mars. It’s about moving to LA and finding a home in there. That was the closest I could think of and I do love the song.

Lost in the city of angels
Down in the comfort of strangers
I found myself in the fire burned hills
In the land of a billion lights

And

All my life, I was never there
Just a ghost running scared

A song about human decency – People Help The People, by Cherry Ghost, covered by Birdy.

God knows what is hiding in those weak and drunken hearts
Guess he kissed the girls and made them cry
Those hard-faced queens of misadventure
God knows what is hiding in those weak and sunken lives
Fiery throngs of muted angels
Giving love but getting nothing back, oh

People help the people
And if you’re homesick
give me your hand and I’ll hold it
People help the people

A song about a story – Wonderland, by Taylor Swift, was inspired by Alice in Wonderland.

I reached for you but you were gone
I knew I had to go back home
You search the world for something else to make you feel like what we had
And in the end in wonderland we both went mad.

And

We found wonderland
You and I got lost in it
And we pretended it could last forever

An I can’t even song – Uncanny, by Anberlin. I used to listen to that song on repeat. It is amazing.

Trains to Tokyo,
Staring out windows,
A place we’ve never been
While soundtracks play in backgrounds
To the stories of our lives
Non-fiction, oh envision,
if we never met and what we missed
And never really learned
Pacific Standard Time
Oh they love those American boys.

Anywhere say anywhere
As long as I’m with you
Anything, ask anything
We’ll watch the world go by
Anywhere, say anywhere
As long as I’m with you
Anything, ask anything
We’ll watch the world

A song my father plays on the guitar – Back In Black, by ACDC. He always does that beginning riff.

A song of hope – Miracles, by Coldplay. It’s a great song but it’s even better when you listen to it after watching Unbroken. It makes it so bittersweet and amazing that it’s almost painful.

From up above I heard
The angels sing to me these words.
And sometimes in your eyes
I see the beauty in the world

Sometimes the stars decide
To reflect in puddles in the dirt.
When I look in your eyes
I forget all about what hurts.

I’m not going to make a collage but I think I’ve got quite a good idea of what kind of music I like. I tend to prefer slower, more ballad-like songs, with minor chords and a melancholic/bittersweet feel and words. I think you can call those rock ballads? … or alternative rock ballads.

I tag Imogen, Ashana Lian, Jamie, Engie, and Erin.

  1. Great song selections! I especially like how you pulled out the particular lyrics that made you think of the thing you wanted to talk about, just because I find that awesomesauce. Thanks for participating in the tag! πŸ™‚
